With winter’s icy grip finally letting go across the U.S. and other
parts of the world, it’s time to get your rental property ready for
spring and summer travelers! While it’s easy to hire a cleaning service
to come in and handle the chore, that can get expensive and the end
result may not be up to par. Here are some quick and easy tips for
spring cleaning your vacation rental.
Open all your windows. Make sure you get a good
cross breeze in your vacation rental to clear out any stale air. This is
also a good time to replace air filters, vacuum air vents, deep clean
carpets, vacuum or sweep under furniture, dust and wash curtains,
linens, blankets and towels that might be holding onto odors. If, upon
closer inspection, your linens are looking a bit frayed, replace them!
If you wouldn’t use them, your traveler won’t want to either.
Scrub everything. Disinfectant wipes come in handy
for tackling door handles, light switches, phones, baseboards, chairs
and any other surface that you touch. While it might not look dirty to
the naked eye, bacteria can live and multiply on most surfaces. Don’t
forget to run all your plates, glasses, silverware and other cooking
utensils through the dishwasher to make sure that they are nice and
sparkling clean, and then store them back in the cupboards. The last
thing you want as spring and summer comes is for the common cold to make
a comeback!
